Are you looking for meaningful travel experiences that are unique and personally fulfilling?
Are the birthdays ticking by and you realize that if you don’t check off that bucket list experience soon it may never happen?
Have you always wanted to try something outside your comfort zone but felt too intimidated or didn’t know where to start?
If you can relate to this, we want to inspire you by sharing unforgettable travel experiences, at an exceptional value, and to be your go-to resource for informative and practical travel advice.
We offer you:
1. Up to date Canadian Rockies travel advice from locals
Travel advice and up-to-date information on the Canadian Rockies based on over 30 years of experience as locals exploring the area.
We have discovered the hidden gems and best things to do in the Rockies during dozens of trips to Canada’s parks and towns including Banff, Jasper, Lake Louise, Yoho, Waterton, Canmore, Bragg Creek, and Kananaskis. We visit these areas regularly each year and will share ideas for itineraries to the Canadian Rockies.
2. Travel guides, templates, and tested tips for the Canadian Rockies and worldwide travel
Meticulously researched travel guides, templates, and tested tips to plan a trip to the Canadian Rockies or to countries around the world.
We’ve visited over 25 countries across five continents and want to answer your questions and let you know what you can expect and how to plan your own trip. Jen spends hundreds of hours each year reading travel books, researching new places to visit, creating itineraries, and planning the logistics of each international trip.
3. Personal experiences from experts
Interviews with midlife travellers who have experience and expertise in areas we think you will want to learn about. If we don’t know ourselves, we like to learn from others who are experts and share their travel stories.
4. Impartial reviews and information
Indepth, impartial advice and reviews on travel products and services we have tried. We share our personal views of what works and what doesn’t – not an advertisement. We don’t work for a travel organization; we are travellers just like you.
We share what we learn through trial and error and personal experience. You can trust that we research and try out the hotels, activities, and travel companies that we recommend.
Our midlife traveller perspective
We are both midlife travellers – at that transitional period of life somewhere between young adulthood and old age. We bring this perspective to the blog and we focus on getting good value for our money.
Good value for money means that we look for deals but we also value our time and aren’t willing to sacrifice safety, location, or comfort just to get a cheap trip.
Although we might splurge on occasion, we are not luxury travellers with a limitless budget, and we are also not experts in budget travel for those who want to eat and sleep at the lowest possible cost.
Jen and Graham – Machu Picchu
Our story
We live in Calgary, Alberta near the Rocky Mountains in Canada. We are an average empty-nester couple who plan multiple Canadian Rockies and international trips each year. We aren’t full time travellers and Jen works a day job while Graham is retired. We enjoy spending time with our grown kids and four grandkids.
In the summer we like to camp in the Canadian Rockies with our RV and visit Kananaskis, Waterton, Canmore, Banff, and Jasper. In the fall and winter we enjoy cozy weekend getaways in cabins or lodges in the mountains. The winter is the perfect time for snowshoeing in Kananaskis, skating at the Lake Louise Ice Magic Festival, or seeing the ice bubbles at Abraham lake.
We have travelled for extended periods of time to escape the Canadian winters and try to visit as many new countries as we can. Our favourite countries to travel to include Greece, Italy, Thailand, and Morocco.
Graham likes anywhere with a white sandy beach plus New York City – the home of his favourite hockey and baseball team. Jen seeks adventure and wants to explore far-off and unique locations like the Amazon, Morocco, Egypt, and Africa.
We travel as a couple, but we also visit new places with friends and family, or travel solo, including solo female trips.
Why we started the blog?
This blog began as a passion project to share our own stories, pictures, and travel tips and to connect with others who have their own fascinating and exciting travel tales to tell.
Travel stories are an inspiration to us all to take the next step, think big, and make that dream a reality.
Building connections
We would love to connect with like-minded people who enjoy travel as much as we do. Please follow our travels on our Facebook page and Instagram.
If you have questions feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] or subscribe to our newsletter to join our community of midlife travellers.
